Azfer Naseem, CFA, has more than fourteen years of experience spanning across Equity Research, Corporate Finance and Private Equity In January ‘16, Azfer co-founded Akseer and assumed the role of CEO, leading the company’s growth journey from its budding stages to a diversified client base in Research, Advisory, and Brokerage across 5 countries. Transitioning in January ‘21, Azfer assumed the position of Executive Director of Technology Platforms to focus his efforts on technology-led growth initiatives at Akseer. Before founding Akseer, Azfer was associated with BMA Capital as the Director of Research and Business Development. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in expanding BMA's research coverage, enhancing client interaction, and improving corporate access. Additionally, Azfer was the team lead responsible for establishing a Private Equity division within the BMA Group. Furthermore, he served as an Advisor to the Board of Directors of BMA Funds, a subsidiary of BMA Capital, showcasing his multifaceted expertise and strategic acumen in the financial domain.

Prior to BMA Capital, Azfer was associated with Elixir Securities Pakistan as Head of Research, where he helped build a research team that won several domestic and international awards and accolades. He also helped revive the Corporate Finance department at Elixir towards the end of 2013, which subsequently executed privatization transactions worth more than USD1.5bn.

Muhammad Mohsin Ahsan brings over 27 years of extensive experience in financial research, stock broking, fund/portfolio management, business development and consulting... He started his career in 1997 as a Business Analyst at GSK Pakistan and subsequently moved into equity research in 1999 wherein he worked at Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities Pakistan (subsidiary of Credit Agricole), Elixir Securities, Global Securities (subsidiary of UBS Securities) and Invisor Securities. During his early sell-side career, Mohsin coordinated and arranged visits of reputable foreign investors such as Arisaig Partners, ABN Amro Asset Management, JP Morgan, and Credit Suisse to Pakistan.
In 2009, he relocated to Saudi Arabia to lead buy-side research at Arab National Investment Company (ANB Invest now ANB Capital), a subsidiary of Arab National Bank. His role expanded as he was promoted to Head of Equities, where he managed Saudi equity funds, DPMs/SMAs, international funds, and funds of funds. He served as a key member of both the Investment Committee and the Investment Fund Board. Additionally, he stepped in as the acting Head of Asset Management whenever required, ensuring seamless operations.

In May 2017, he returned to Pakistan and joined Optimus Capital Management as Director Research. Later in 2018 he moved to Al Meezan Investment Management Ltd as Head of Equities and Director Research where he served until Dec 2019. Subsequently, he rejoined Optimus Capital as Managing Director overseeing sales, research and business development, a role he held until Dec. 2022.

Sohaib Subzwari has over ten years of experience spanning Advisory, Equity Research, and FMCG sectors. He joined Akseer in April ‘18 as Team Lead – Equity Research and was later promoted to Team Lead – Advisory in July ‘20. Sohaib was promoted to the position of Director Advisory in January 2024.
Currently, he oversees a team of analysts specializing in feasibility studies, business plans, valuation, and market research. In this capacity he has led projects covering multiple sectors including but not limited to Renewable Energy, EV’s, Minerals and Mining, Semiconductors, Tourism, Hospitality, Real Estate, and Consumer Goods.

He also supervises teams working on equity research mandates in multiple geographies, including Pakistan, the GCC, and Europe, covering sectors such as Cement, Financial Institutions, Retailing, REITs, Distribution & Logistics, and General Industrials. During his tenure as Team Lead – Equity Research, Sohaib focused primarily on banking and the economy, with previous coverage including Consumer, Cement, Automobile Assemblers, and Fertilizer sectors.

Aftab Awan possesses almost a decade of demonstrated experience in Equity and Advisory. Abdullah brings to the table an extensive background in investment research and corporate finance advisory, bolstered by over 4 years of dedicated experience in these domains. In addition to his investment research and corporate finance advisory experience, Abdullah has 3 years of real estate development entrepreneurship experience in Pakistan. Since joining Akseer in 2021, Abdullah has been an integral part of the corporate finance and advisory division.
His repertoire includes expertise in Financial Reporting, Financial Advisory, and Strategy Consulting. Throughout his tenure, Abdullah has actively participated in over 41 projects across the GCC, showcasing his versatility in handling diverse mandates such as feasibility studies, business plans, business valuation, financial due diligence, and market research.

Prior to his role at Akseer, Abdullah served as a research associate at Dun & Bradstreet Pakistan, where he was part of a team conducting investment research and risk assessments. Zaid Aftab has more than four years of experience in Advisory, Equity, and Corporate Finance. He joined Akseer in May ’21 as Analyst – Advisory and was later promoted to Vice President - Advisory & Consulting. Zaid has contributed over 40 projects across the GCC with different mandates varying between asset valuation, business valuation, and financial due diligence. Over the years, he has developed strong proficiency in financial modeling across various sectors,
enabling him to analyze the financial & socio-economic impact of various projects. Additionally, he has been involved in multiple advisory and corporate finance projects in the GCC.

Prior to working with Akseer, Zaid worked as an Equity Research Analyst at Pearl Securities, a Pakistan-based research house where he was responsible for maintaining coverage companies across OMC, E&P & Fertilizer sectors. With 30 years of professional experience, Syed Rehan Ali joined Akseer Research in June 2024 as the Director – Technical Research. At Akseer, he is responsible for establishing a technical charting department, conducting comprehensive technical analysis, and building a team of technical analysts to serve both local and international clients.
Rehan’s professional trajectory took off from trading American futures commodities markets from 1993 to 1997. Later, he entered the Pakistan equities market and has since been associated with leading brokerage firms including Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities, KASB Securities, Foundation Securities, and Alfalah CLSA Securities, where he served as a technical analyst.

Muhammad Ahmed, CFA, ACCA, brings over seven years of extensive experience spanning both sell-side and buy-side equity research. He joined Akseer in September ’23, as Head of Research.
Prior to joining Akseer, Ahmed worked at UBL Funds (Buy-side) as Divisional Head Research in October '21. At UBL Funds, under his watch, the coverage of companies increased from 50% to 70% of the benchmark equity index. Furthermore, he established a centralized database system that facilitated fund managers in accessing timely information about stocks under consideration. Notably, his presentation on debt restructuring enabled the organization to carve out future strategies. Additionally, he served as a member of the Investment Committee at UBL Funds, where he was responsible for supervising plans and funds with a combined AUM of ~USD 490 million. He played a pivotal role in offering insights and recommendations concerning the economy, sector allocation, and stock selection to the Investment Committee.
